Yazd YAZD-OLD CITY Yazd is one of the oldest towns in the world. Look for badgirs (wind towers), on rooftops which function as an air-condition but healthier. Badgirs insure ventilation in the lower parts of a house and are made to catch the lightest breeze and direct it to underground room which is necessary in hot summer. Buildings in Yazd are made of cob and clay and are carefully maintained. The style of buildings are simple, exotic and traditional with clay color from sun-dried bricks. It is famous for its silk and other fabrics.
